Ivy B Popping On To Say Hello!

Good Morning My Sweet Bees!

This is just a  quick hello.  I have a Christmas Story to finish by tomorrow morning so I 'd better stop procrastinating and get on with it.

But I'm very excited, so  I had to share! The Fifth Story is out  in a week! September, 7th is going to be a big day. And this is kind of interesting, yesterday I was on the Breathless Press website and I noticed that The Fifth Story is in the Cyber category instead of the Paranormal. I'm fine with that. Bryn, my main character, is drawn into her computer so that's pretty Cyber, and she has Paranormal adventures while in her stories that are stored her computer so, the Cyber category works.

What's interesting is that there are only 8 books in this category and they've listed 2 best sellers at the top of the page, for this category and even though The Fifth Story isn't out for a week, it's listed as a best seller. I have to celebrate this because I may not get to see my book listed as a best seller anywhere else, I mean, here's hoping  I do, but just in case, I thought I would take a moment to enjoy this.

So, thank-you to all of you out there whom have (who have?) per-ordered The Fifth Story. I hope you enjoy it!

Next Friday, on release day, I'll be a busy bee. I'll be showing up on 4 other blogs besides my own so be sure to check my blog tour page on September, 7th and hop around!

And if you haven't had a chance to check out The Fifth Story Book Trailer, go do it now! Please...ok...you're busy too, that's fine, but soon, ok?

Thanks to all of you for your support!

Ok, I really must dash. Until next time,

Ivy B high on anticipation!

Ivy B Welcoming Yazmin Subha

Hello my Sweet Bees

Today, I'm sharing my blog with the talented and fellow Breathless Press author Yazmin Subha! She is here to talk with us today about her new release from Breathless Press, Wildfire.

Don't worry, no more babble from me! Here she is! Take it away Yazmin!

Sometimes a push is all you need.

Hi Ivy.

Thank you for having me over to visit. As you know, I am really excited at the moment because I have had my first ever release, Wildfire came out on 24th August with Breathless Press.

Various people have asked me about what made me write this story and it the answer is simple.

I belong to a Critique Group called UCW. It is full of writers at various stages, from aspiring, newly published, established to multi published. One evening whilst chatting online I was moaning that I was bored and needed something to do. Cherie Nicholls, who is the author of the series Shifters of Hillside, gave me three keywords and told me to go away and come back when I had five hundred words written. After more moaning from me, I did exactly that and produced what became the very start of the book. Once the others had read it they pushed me to carry on and it all became Wildfire.

This has got me thinking. Sometime all we need is a push to get us going! This maybe to develop a latent skill, take on a new challenge or hobby. This push often leads us to discover something about ourselves, in my case it was that I like to create stories, as I have always done and I am very fortunate to have my very first release and others in the pipeline!

The heroine in Wildfire, Millie is pushed and makes a discovery about herself, which leads her into trouble.
Here is the blurb and the five hundred word challenge that is now the beginning of the book. (Actually it is 519 words!)

Blurb

Braden has searched all his life for the one who will help him regain his humanity and give him absolute power. One bite and he knew Millie was the one he had been searching for. Millie, a fiery red head is the last one in the line of high born witches who would rather die than give herself to this vampire. After all he killed her mother for her blood as well, didn’t he?  But in a twist of fate Millie learns too late what the truth is. But will death be the only thing that unites them?

Excerpt

Millie knew this wasn’t a good idea. Brad wasn’t a man one could say no to. It was a stupid idea to hide in the carwash. She prayed no one would want to wash their car at three AM as she squeezed between the rollers. Her heart beat fast. She took a gulp of air and then blew it out to try to calm herself.

No footsteps could be heard, only the soft whistle of the trees as they swayed in the warm night air. She relaxed her shoulders and sighed. Maybe Brad had decided to no longer pursue her. Maybe that blonde with the big boobs had caught his attention at last, and he had gone off with her to a quiet spot to find out if they were real or not.

Wait a few more minutes, she told herself.

After a few minutes she pried herself out and took a step over the roller by her knees. All of a sudden the whir started and the rollers began to move. What the hell. How… Her mind ran on ahead of her. The soap was dispensed and the rotation of the rollers caught her attention. The darkness did not help; the route out wasn’t clear. The rollers in front of her whipped against her and sprayed suds and warm water that soaked her silk dress so that it clung to her.

She leaned back and tried to gain a hold of something to anchor her. Damn him. How had he found her? She knew there was something strange about him when he happened to be near her all the time. Even when he was across the room, within a blink of an eye he came to stand next to her—in her space.

The warm water, combined with the sensation of the soft, soapy bristles tantalized her skin. The rollers brushed against her and sent electrical currents to her clit. Hell…how could she be getting turned on by this?

Something warm blew across her face. A silent kiss…an unknown hand…lingered on her cheek.

Got you! The voice was in her head.

How can that be? she thought. She shook her head to get rid of the fuzziness caused by the water as it cascaded over her body. Warm hands caressed her breasts. Her senses heightened as one unknown hand stroked down to the juncture between her legs. The fingers flicked and pressed her sensitive clit and a wet tongue licked at her neck. She was lost to the sensations all round her. How could he do this? She felt him near, but he wasn’t there. How? The fingers stroked harder and she could not help but arch into the hand.

Mine alone. Open for me. Let me in come into you. His command was as urgent as the brushes that stroked her skin. At last he emerged before her—tall, broad, and dark. His mouth came down on hers and their wet lips met. Their tongues danced as his hands pulled her to his chest. He stroked her ass and pulled up her dress. She shivered against him.

Up and Coming Works.

I am waiting for edits for book 3 of the Blood Bar Chronicles anthology due out later this year with Breathless Press. My story is called 'Logan's Captive.' Also in the edits queue is 'Gypsy Butterfly' which is part of Eclipse of the Blood Moon anthology with Evernight Publishing and Breathless Press have also said yes to another book called 'Guardian Awakening' so I am waiting for all that to come through. This book is intended to be first in a series of three, so I need to rework the second book and start thinking about the third.

Here's a little bit about me:

Yazmin Subha is a busy mother of two children, whose husband has got used to her sitting tapping away on her laptop. By day she sits at her job, all respectable and prim but by night she is imagining feisty heroines and sexy alpha males.
She is a British author who grew up with a love of reading. Books created other places, times and worlds to visit. It was the desire to try to write that saw her pen her first short story as a teenager. But then everyday life got in the way and it was only recently that she began scribbling again. Encouraged, or rather dragged screaming and kicking by her critique group UCW she decided to ‘have a go’.
Her teenage dream is finally coming true.

Well Ivy, thank you for letting me visit! I hope to come again.

Ivy B celebrating with Breathless Press

Good Friday to you my Sweet Bees

Today is Breathless Press's 3rd birthday!  Happy Birthday to my lovely publishing company! And for the next few days on their blog they are having a a very fun (very fun? hmmm I'm not sure that's grammatically correct...well forgive me...I'm still not through my first cup of coffee!) blog hop in the form of a scavenger hunt.

This is how it works. 18 Breathless Authors are participating. Just follow the link to the BP Blog that I have above the poster site and on the site you will find all the names of the authors involved. Click on the name of each author and hop to their blogs.  Each blog will have a blue letter. Comment on the blog, take the letter...or write it down...and when you've collected (or scavenged) all your letters, they create  a message! Once you've unscrambled the message send it to Olivia.ventura@breathlesspress.com and you will be entered into a draw for a chance to win 50 BP books of your choice.

In case my explanation is poor, you might want to check out the BP blog post yourself. Of yours...if you're going to play, you'll be heading to the Breathless Press Blog now anyway! And remember, you have to comment on all the blogs to be eligible.

Unfortunately...as you can see by my lack of blue letter...I am not participating. Why? Because in the is giant sea of social networking...this contest got lost to be me. But that doesn't mean I can't support it so get out there and play!!

Have a lovely Friday and weekend my Sweet Bees,

Ivy B Entering the Realm of the Book Trailer!

Hello my Sweet Bees?

I hope that all of you had a lovely weekend. Mine was quite productive which is always very fulfilling.

For the past few weeks I've been attempting to make a book trailer for The Fifth Story, however...time never seemed to be handy; there was always something else that needed to be done. Fortunately, time gave me an opportunity on Saturday and I took full advantage of it and in 4 hours, I created, what I feel, is a fairly decent book trailer.

I've posted it on my new video page!

So have a look-see when you have a mo and let me know what you think! Be gentle...it was my first time...making a book trailer.

Also, I've added a couple of October dates to my "The Fifth Story Blog Tour page". I hope you'll stop on by!

So that is all for now. Stay tuned for more exciting news and updates!

Until next time,
Ivy B working on her blog tour posts

Ivy B Going On A (Virtual) Tour!

Good Thursday Morning My Sweet Bees

The big day is getting closer!  Soon the release of my second book, The Fifth Story, generously being published by Breathless Press, will be out and about on virtual bookshelves everywhere! It comes out September 7th, but it available for pre-order now!

When my first book came out, Between the Lines, back in January (it seems like an age ago and like it happened yesterday...how is that?) I was super glowing green. I had no idea how to go about finding blogs to request an interview on...I didn't know who to ask...I had zero clue as to what a Blog Hop was! Breathless Press was very helpful and lined up  few interviews for me which I really appreciated, but I knew I needed to do more, but I just didn't know how. Or maybe, more accurately, I lacked confidence and frankly I was scared to approach people...even in the virtual world.

However, this time around, I'm more prepared and have found a bit of confidence.

Over the last few months I've taken the time to figure out some of the ins, and a few of the outs for promoting my work on the internet. I've had a great deal of help from a lovely fellow writer and blogger, Linda Kage, who has shared advice and links and given me  great deal of support since we connected earlier in the year.

With knowledge in hand, last week I finally cracked the whip (on myself...ooo baby!) and emailed quite a few fellow bloggers and asked if they would like to book me on their site to help promote my upcoming book. Luckily, a few of them got back to me and I now have something of  blog tour for The Fifth Story set up.

Check out my new page!

The Fifth Story Blog Tour

Thank-you to all of you out there who said yes to a relative unknown. I really appreciate all the promotional help and am very much looking forward to being on your sites! I am always available to return the favour.

And speaking of that...

On Oct. 12th, Linda Kage will be dropping by to talk about her latest young adult romance book "The Color of Grace". I'm really looking forward to having her here on Ivy B Misbehavin.

Until next time my bees,

Ivy B Giving You A Preview of The Fifth Story

Hello my lovely bees

Today is very special. Today I'm giving you a little taste of The Fifth Story...which of course comes out on September 7/2012 with Breathless Press. So without further ado...

A little Overview

Every day we encounter doors. Some of these doors are open to us and some of them are closed, but when we pass through any door, a different truth or mystery lies beyond the threshold.
The night Bryn is pulled into a world of her own stories by a shadowy being, her reality is changed forever. Souls and danger, hauntingly beautiful witches, sexy and dangerous vampires, a soldier with a dying wish; she knows that each door leads to a story and to outcomes she can't control, but in order to return home, Bryn must complete a set of tasks for the enigmatic and strangely sensual Darkness.
With four stories to enter, four items to retrieve, Bryn takes part in plot points so out of character that she almost loses herself in the tales she's written. More than once she questions her sanity and curses herself for creating such perilous realities, but she always remains focused on her goal; the creation of the fifth story.
Excerpt from The Fifth Story By Ivy Bateman
The witch Melusine was still engulfed in green flames, she was still cackling madly, but her back was now to the door. Coran was huddled near the back wall with Katie, the two of them watching the mad scene in horror. Suddenly, Katie tore herself from Coran's grasp and ran to the pyre. She stared with eyes filled with desperation and lust at the creature in the middle of the inferno.
Melusine reached out a hand to Katie and pulled her into the flames. Coran jumped to his feet, yelling madly for Melusine to let Katie go. With a final hysterical wail, the fire rose to the ceiling of the stone room, hiding both women from view. It licked at the wooden beams, threatening to set them ablaze. Coran yelled once more for Melusine to stop, to end the vendetta against him, but with a suddenness that caused Coran to gasp in shock and disbelief, the fire went out. The women were gone and Coran was left alone in the room with nothing but the scent of burning wood and his heat of his hot tears.
Bryn backed out of the room. She loved Coran and didn't like to see him cry. He was as handsome in her real story as he'd been on paper. She was pleased.
If I recall correctly, that scene is merely the end of a chapter…not the end of the story.
"Oh no, it's not the end at all," Bryn scoffed, "You really didn't think that the bad guy would get away, do you?"
They do in some stories…
Darkness spoke as if he had direct experience with such a situation. Bryn just laughed, a little uncomfortably and moved to another door, the second one on the left.
The first thing she noticed about this story was the smell of it. A pleasant scent of horses and hay drifted to meet her in the cold hallway. She stepped in quietly and entered the stable. She knew immediately which one of her stories she had entered because of the setting. She was entering her love story about the affair between Anthony and Cara, and if she'd guessed correctly, she and Darkness were about to walk in on a particularly intimate moment. Bryn headed further into the warm stables.
Oil lamps lit the passage way. A few horses were present, but Bryn knew she'd written no one else in the stable at this time in the story except for Anthony and Cara. Which stall were they in again? She heard rustling and soft moaning near the end of the row. Darkness was trailing behind her. She could feel him on the small of her back pushing slightly and with what seemed to be excitement. How familiar was he with this story of hers? Did he know what they were about to witness?
Bryn reached the last stall and found them, entwined in passion in the straw on the floor. Caraˈs head was thrown back in ecstasy as she ran her hands through Anthony's thick black hair. Anthony had his face hidden in the heat between Cara's soft white thighs. He moaned with pleasure as Caraˈs left foot gently caressed his manhood. He was always a soldier though, even during their lovemaking. His gleaming, silver sword lay beside him at the ready, should danger show itself or his duties call. But, he wouldn't need it on this night, not during this chapter. Bryn decided to leave her lovers alone. They had so little time together, after all. She turned away, feeling flushed and a little bashful, and headed back to the door. Darkness followed quickly and seemed to whisper in her ear.
Was it as good to write that steamy scene as it was to watch, my dirty little Bryn?
"Writing an erotic scene is always very rewarding, Darkness. Did you enjoy that? Are you sorry to leave such an intimate moment in my story?" She laughed in spite of herself.
Not at all. It is lovely witnessing all that you are capable of writing.
She felt Darkness pressing against her side. He grazed the edge of her breasts, hissing softly in her ear. Bryn smiled shyly, and gently shook him away. She headed out of the warmth of the stable and into the coldness of the dim hall. She had only one door—or one story, rather—to go, and didn't want to get side tracked.
She went through the catalog of stories in her mind. Which of her worlds was waiting behind the last door? Was it going to be—oh dear, yes, it probably was. She gulped. Bryn wasn't sure she was ready to see this one brought to life. She walked up to the second door on the right, turned the knob and opened it reluctantly.
"NOOOOO! You bastards! Leave me alone! Leave me alone!" were the words that greeted Bryn's ears as she and Darkness slipped into an even darker passage way then the one they had just left. Bryn stood near the door, shaking her head. Yes, this was the one she suspected it would be.
Are you all right, dear Bryn? Disturbed by your own writing?
"Yes, I suppose I am," she said with a bit of resignation.
It is an angry tale with an odd premise, full of violence and sex…full of…Darkness paused.
"Space vampires…yes, yes, I know," Bryn stammered, feeling a little embarrassed.
It is not a typical story for you to write as far as I can tell…what possessed you to spin a yarn such as this?
"It was just a phase," Bryn said quickly. "I was trying a different genre."
I have a feeling there is more to it than that.
"It's none of your business why I wrote it!" Bryn yelled, feeling as though she was on trial.
Keep your voice down, my sweet. I've a feeling drawing attention to yourself in this story of yours would be a very bad idea.
As they talked, the torture in the room beyond continued. Bryn knew very well what was going on in the room at the end of the hall, and she considered not witnessing the events the poor heroine was being subjected to, but decided that she should see it. After all, she'd written it and seen it in her mind's eye. How bad could the live version be?
*****

That's all for now my Sweet Bees. I hope you enjoyed it and that sneak peak has wet your interests enough to want to purchase the whole story, The Fifth Story, on September 7th, 2012.

Until next time,

Ivy B Feeling Shady.

Hello My Sweet Bees

This will be a wee entry, with the promise of a longer one soon...and perhaps in a very different style than you've previously received from me.  But we'll see...it's a time thing...

So, unless I'm grossly mistaken, which is entirely possible, my next ebook, The Fifth Story,  comes out in a month today! Yes, that's right, on September 7th 2012. It's high time I found my promotion pants or hat or whatever and wear it proudly and until it's worn out. I just have to find the time to do don the garment and spread the word. I'm hoping to put together a book trailer soon as well....but we'll see. Again..its' a time thing.

In the mean time, I've done something I normally don't do. I've succumb to a pop culture phenomenon; yes I've jumped on the "50 Shades" bandwagon. Normally, I leave super popular trends out of my life until the hype has died to a dull roar. But this time, I'm not waiting. I'm genuinely curious about this book and I want to find out why it's so popular!  I have to know! It is a  book of an erotic nature so popular that in the fairly sexually quiet small town where I live, the local book store sold over 200 copies the first week they had it! Apparently, it's graphic and frankly, I'm dying to find out how graphic we're talking here...how it compares with my Between the Lines which is quite graphic, has a bit of kink and...I think I've sold somewhere around 20 copies...sigh...Ms. James has probably sold 20 copies of "50 Shades of Grey" (or is it Gray? I can never remember) while I've been writing this blog entry!

And good for her! I am in no way against her success. I just want to know, in a world that has had erotic fiction for YEARS, why her book has become so popular and so trendy that people are coming out of the erotica closest and letting everyone know that they like hot books.

With that being said, I'll leave you with this; I may be writing a play soon for local cause that is dear to me and I'm thinking of setting it in a diner and calling it "50 Shades of Gravy".

Thoughts?

Oh yes...I think that would go over really well.

Happy Afternoon My Sweet Bee's,

Ivy B off to do paperwork.
